3 record labels that should totally consider signing Chidinma
Though reports have been unconfirmed, according to lifestyle website, 360Nobs, Captial Hill songstress Chidinma has decided to call it quits with her label after 5 years and one self-titled debut album.Despite the suddenness of the parting, sources have confirmed there was no animosity between her and the label’s executives. Her contract simply expired at the end of February 2016 and she decided not to renew it for personal reasons. She’s simply “moving on”.
But her next moves seem more uncertain than her decision to quit her former label.
Sources close to Chidinma have debunked the possibility of the Emi Ni Baller star floating her own label. A reasonable assertion may suggest she recognises that her brand needs more tweaks and at least, more albums under its belt before she can stand on her own.
This leaves joining a pre-existing Nigerian label as the next possible choice for Chidinma (except of course she wants to hang her career in homoeostasis as an indie artiste.)
While the dwindling power arrangements in the industry may make it difficult for Chidinma to choose a label strong enough to bankroll this next phase of her career, there are a few we can recommend by virtue of viability, strength and provision of a suitable creative space.
