Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group experienced a turbulent year that could have put
an end to a less impactful crew. Rap beefs, legal issues, and a bit of internal strife often overshadowed the music. However, Rick Ross and MMG are looking to prove that their crew remains strong and have yet to allow hard times to destroy their brand
During the Fourth of July weekend, Rick Ross
and his Maybach Music Group provided a glimpse of future projects and celebrated success with MMG weekend in Atlanta. The three-day affair featured parties and several listening sessions for new music by MMG members and their upcoming album, Self-Made 4. Meek
Mill also premiered a few songs from Dreamchasers 4, which will include guests appearances by artists such as Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, and Pusha T.
On July 3, MMG weekend concluded with a pool party hosted by Rick Ross at his $5.8 million estate just south of Atlanta in Fayetteville, Georgia. The mansion, once owned by boxer Evander Holyfield, features 109-rooms, sits on 256 acres, and features an Olympic-sized swimming pool which served as the location for the pool party. Hundreds of guests were treated to free MMG paraphernalia, barbecue, and drinks.
During the pool party, Rick Ross took the opportunity to film a video for his latest single, “Same H—,” which was directed by Benny Boom. Rick Ross later jumped in the pool with partygoers.
Along with MMG members Wale, Meek Mill, Stalley, Omarion, Rockie Fresh, and Fat Trel, other notable attendees at the MMG pool party included Nicki Minaj, Big K.R.I.T., and Lou Williams.
If MMG weekend served as a prelude of things to come, hip-hop fans can expect Maybach Music Group to make a strong push in the third and fourth quarters of 2016.
