We will pay salaries this week - Ekiti govt

The Ekiti state government says workers in the state will be paid this week because that is topmost priority of the Fayose administration – Says budget adjustment support facility fund is not enough to clear the backlog of arrears of workers The Ekiti state government has disclosed that it will begin the part payment of workers salary from the N1.3bn federal government loan.

The Ekiti commissioner for Information, Lanre Ogunsuyi told the Punch that workers will be paid this week because that is topmost priority of the Fayose administration. Ogunsuyi said: “We are going to use the ‘Budget Adjustment Support facility’ to pay backlog of workers salaries. That is what it will be mainly used for. It is even not enough to clear the arrears.

The workers will be paid this week because that is topmost on our priority for now.” In response to the government’s promise, Bunmi Ajimoko, the state president of Nigeria union of local government employees, expressed the hopes that the state government will use it for what is intended. He complained that workers are passing through a difficult times due to the failure of the state government to pay salaries. Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised allegation that policemen have invaded the state in a bid to begin arrest of PDP lawmakers. In a statement issued by Lere Olayinka who is the special assistant to Governor Ayo fayose on media, he claimed that security operatives were already in the state

Ghana begins visa-on-arrival policy for AU member states.

The Ghana Immigration Service said that foreign nationals from the African Union member states can now travel to Ghana and be issued with visas on arrival.

Francis Palmdeti, Head of Public Affairs of the GIS, said on Monday in a statement as Ghana kick-starts the new visa policy.

He said the arrangement would be piloted at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra for three months, and thereafter extended to all other entry points of the country.

“All AU nationals affected by this policy who arrive in the country must have a passport, valid for at least three months, from the date of entry; they must have a return ticket or evidence of onward travel.

“Travellers must show evidence of sufficient funds and proof of accommodation before they are granted visas,” he said.

Palmdeti said that the visa-on-arrival decision by the Ghanaian government was in fulfilment of a resolution adopted at the AU Executive Council meeting held earlier this year in Addis Ababa.

He said that the resolution stipulates that AU Member States should review their internal and external security realities in an attempt to implement mechanisms allowing for the issuing of visas on arrival for citizens of member states, with the possibility of a 30-day stay.

Palmdeti said Ghana became the first AU member state to adopt such a policy and has received commendation from the AU Commission for the bold step.

Pastor Adeboye visits the family of murdered RCCG Abuja preacher Eunice Elisha + latest update on her murder case

This morning, at around 6am, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye visited the family of the murdered Abuja preacher, Mrs Eunice Elisha.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police commissioner, Alkali Usman, says six out of the eight people arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a Redeemed Christian Church of God evangelist, Eunice Olawale in Kubwa last Saturday, have been released after investigations showed they had nothing to do with the crime. According to him, two other suspects are being held for further interrogation.

"Intensive investigation into the matter has been launched. The deputy commissioner of police in charge of investigations is heading the investigation team. Eight arrest has been made but after screening and interrogation, we released six. Two are helping us in our investigation"he told Channels TV.

According to CP Alkali, the reports that her head was severed by her attackers is untrue. He added that all her body parts were intact when police officers got to the scene of the incident. He refuted claims that the killing was religiously motivated.

A few hours ago, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's ex-wife, pastor Anita published an article titled ''Soul winning'' in which she asks people to beware of fake men of God.

When people talk about winning souls these days, I feel absolutely concerned for the so-called souls. It looks to me like a lion on a breakfast mission, in search for his hunt; he hides behind the grass for an unwise lamb that would wander away from the herd in search of fresh grass. This will be an easy catch and good feast for the lion’s plate.
When I hear these people talk about winning souls, I feel sorry for the souls who have no idea of what they are getting into. It sometimes sounds to me like blood-thirsty people desperate to count the number of innocent, ignorant people who will give their blood to be sucked. These souls are classified, as the needy, can undoubtedly be gullible in their search for solutions and wanting to identify or belong to a community.

These souls are caught when they are most vulnerable maybe they have lost a loved one, in a bad relationship with their parents or family, in need of healing or desperate for a change. At this point they will give anything and do anything without a second thought.

When caught by the wrong hands, they will start running in a wheel. Initially, the souls will be treated with some measure of care, so they do not detach. This will be short lived to prepare them to be trained as unconscious servants. Once the attachment is built, they would start attending endless meetings till they begin to be unavailable for their loved ones and disassociate from their families over time.

These souls will eventually give their energy away and with time they begin to feel tired, unhappy, sick, financially drained and depleted. Unknown to them, this new community and friends may be superficial. The souls might observe that sweet and bitter method of sucking their blood has gradually robbed them of their self worth. They might realize they have given their energy to somebody else and they are now hanging in the spider’s web.

They are tied up with daily and weekly responsibilities but if you look closely, their main leader is seating in a place of convenience by handling brief monthly meetings (not weekly) or occasional gatherings.

When I hear about souls, I have sympathy for those who give their blood to be sucked. They are simply prey to be used as objects in some people’s game. Incidentally, some of these souls have become wiser in seeking the opportunity to reap the reaper in his own game, like the buffalo who challenges the tiger.

An aggressive soul winner is hungry like a hunter; he goes with all manner of tools and uses different technique to capture his prey.
An aggressive soul winner is like a fisherman who uses a net. This method of fishing is solely for material or commercial purposes. On the other hand a fish can also be caught by using a fishing rod with baits or lures impaled on the hooks to entice any fish that venture near to bite off the attractive bait. Unfortunately, if caught by a commercial fisherman the fish is not going anywhere after all that effort, it must be eaten. However, if caught by a hobbyist, he will admire the fish and put it back where it belongs, in its natural habitat. Thank God for regulatory organizations helping to stop brutal killings of animals whether on land or sea.

Soul winning alone will not take you to heaven; you win a soul by living the God life and your personal interest in bringing somebody to the knowledge of Christ. You have to be in a good frame of mind first, not under fear or compulsion that if you do not win souls you will go to hell. There should be no ulterior motives like getting the soul’s money eventually, you want a position or seeking to be rewarded with treats or awards. There are people who reach out to others daily not for any earthly reward or to direct the souls to their own churches, for benefits or for any selfish reason. These people recommend and make available other authors, ministers and local assemblies for the interest of the soul alone.

Every man should learn to take care of himself first. He should learn to use his initiative and study for himself otherwise he might become somebody’s big catch or ‘meat’. At that point he would have no one to blame.

I have written this for those who have asked me questions on soul winning and their fears.

This dog's bizzare daily routine at an Indian temple has got people baffled (photos)

According to reports, for the past week, the Mahalakshmi temple in Puttenahalli, India, has become the scene of a most peculiar sight after the dog living near a bakery opposite the temple wakes up early in the morning and starts circling the holy building, sometimes well into the evening.

Oddity Central says nobody can explain the canine’s bizarre behaviour, but his story has been attracting a lot of attention, and more and more people are showing up to watch him do his rounds, resulting in traffic jams on surrounding streets.

9News India reports that the dog starts circling the Mahalakshmi temple at about 4 a.m. every day, stopping at the south-eastern side of the building after each round. There, he barks a few times and then proceeds to circle the building once again. This goes on until about 10 a.m., when the dog returns to his home at the nearby bakery, but according to The Hindu, he sometimes circles the temple for much longer, even until evening.

The dog never seems bothered by people visiting the temple or simply blocking his path, either. He simply walks around them and continues his round until he comes full circle.

Priests at Mahalakshmi temple only noticed the mongrel’s routine little over a week ago, and when asked about the possible reasons behind it, they attributed it to the movement of the planet and explained it as the animal’s attempt to rid itself of an adverse spell cast by serpents. Whatever his reasons, the dog appears very determined, as one of the priests confirms.

One day, people started throwing rocks at him while he was circling the temple, and although he stopped for the day, he was back at it early the next morning. TV news crews also reported that the dog stopped circling Mahalakshmi when they approached him with the camera, but resumed his routine as soon as they backed away.

Circling a temple every day for over a week is already strange enough for a dog, but some people claim he has been at it for a lot longer than that.

Rakshith, a young resident of Puttenahalli, told 9News that he and his friends have been playing cricket near the temple for a while, and they first noticed the dog’s behavior 2-3 months ago.

The number of people coming to Mahalakshmi temple just to see the dog circling it is increasing every day, and local media reports that the growing crowds are affecting traffic in the area.

Mum With Terminal Cancer To Leave Hospital To Attend Her Own Wake

A mum battling terminal cancer will leave her hospital bed - to attend her own wake.
Pauline Davison's friends and family have vowed to ‘send her out with a bang’ after she discovered her bowel and ovarian cancer was terminal earlier this year.
The 59-year-old was diagnosed in July 2015 and had her bowel removed and a hysterectomy in August 2015 followed by months of chemotherapy.
But after the mum-of-three developed septicaemia in May this year, doctors gave her the sad news the cancer had spread too far and was terminal. Her best friend of more than 30 years, Karen McCloud, 53, and daughter, Brenda Healey, 36, have now decided to throw her a wake – before she dies.
It is due to take place in Hulme on July 31.

Mrs Davison, a former pub worker, who will celebrate 39 years of marriage to Steve on July 23, spoke from her hospital bed at the Manchester Royal Infirmary to say she was looking forward to it.
“It was my daughter that suggested it,” she said. “I don’t want to miss my own wake.”

21-Year-Old Student Found Dead After Going Through Depression

Lauren McQuaid, from Cardiff, was found dead at the age of 21 at home by her boyfriend Michael Wanklin.
Assistant coroner Thomas Atherton told Cardiff Coroner’s court Ms McQuaid died on April 28 after an overdose .
In a statement read out by the coroner, Mr Wanklin said third-year Cardiff University biochemistry student Ms McQuaid had told him she needed space to work on her coursework but they had arranged to meet at Costa in Albany Road on April 27.
She didn’t show up to the cafe and so Mr Wanklin went to check on her and presumed she was too busy to meet due to her coursework.
The statement read: “I gave her a kiss on her forehead and she felt warm. She had been working hard so I didn’t worry as I assumed she was just sleeping.”
Through statements from Ms McQuaid’s housemates, which were also read out in court, it was revealed her housemates also heard her “coughing and gargling” during the night but they thought nothing of it.
The next day, having not heard from Ms McQuaid, Mr Wanklin visited the house again the next afternoon. But when he found her he realised she had died. He said he also found an A4 paper pad which turned out to be a suicide note written to her mother, which he had seen the day before, but thought nothing of it.
Her medical history was read out and the coroner said she had frequented the doctor at the end of 2014 after being diagnosed with depression.
But her condition began to deteriorate in December, and she asked for a “not fit to work” note to be written for university.
The coroner returned a conclusion of suicide, caused by toxicity, and added: “It’s clear what her intentions were at around that time, particularly with her history of depression and of cuts to herself.
"In an extremely upsetting and tragic case that someone with so much to live for could be overcome by her depression at such a critical time of her life, it may have been the stress put on her by her studies that led to this."

Woman goes on her honeymoon alone after her husband was denied visa (photos)

A woman has shared hilarious pictures of her 'husband-less honeymoon' after her new spouse was denied a visa for their holiday.

Huma Mobin and her new husband Arsalaan Sever Bhatt, from Lahore, were scheduled to go on a second honeymoon to Greece last month with Mr Bhatt's parents.

But Ms Mobin's husband didn't get a visa in time for the trip.

Initially the young woman didn't want to go without her beloved, but since the entire holiday was already paid for, the couple decided she should see the country. This meant she was left to see the sights with her in-laws for 10 days as Mr Bhatt was left at home in Pakistan.

In order to share the trip with Mr Bhatt, she snapped some photos of her time abroad at the
destinations she visited.

Rather than smiling and enjoying herself, the young woman posed with a distraught look on her face.

In most photos she also had an arm outspread as if hugging her absent husband, making for hilarious holiday snaps.
To add to the tragedy, halfway through the trip the young woman then accidentally lost her phone, dropping it in the Aegean Sea, so then started posing for photos showing that she missed both her husband and her device.

The photos went viral soon after Ms Mobin posted them to Facebook, with strangers finding the pictures adorable.

Although the couple missed out on the holiday together, they did get one honeymoon after they were first married in December 2015. The first time around the couple visited the Maldives, and thankfully had no visa issues.

Princess , a sex worker who refused to appear in court last week Friday, caused commotion at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday Monday the 4th day of July 2016 when her plans to seduce the magistrate failed and she got remanded at Afokang Prison, Calabar, for jumping bail.

The Bayelsa State-born sex worker, Princess, was reportedly arrested alongside her colleagues at the Moonshine Brothel, located at Uwanse two weeks ago in the wake of the clamp down on sex workers and hoodlums, following rising crime wave in Calabar.

She was reportedly brought before the magistrate and granted bail, but when the case came up for hearing last week Friday, she failed to show up, prompting Magistrate Joseph Ibi to order her arrest. It was learned that police effected her arrest and took her to court on Monday to give reasons why she did not show up in court on the day of adjournment as requested by the magistrate.

According to a police source said Princess, who did not give any tangible reason for her failure to appear in court, started making faces at the young magistrate, hoping that the man might be carried away by her beauty.

However, the magistrate was infuriated by her action and ordered that she be sent back to Afokang to spend the public holidays.

A clerk in one of the courts said: “No sooner had the magistrate given the order than Princess let out a full throated cry, grabbed the magistrate’s legs and started pleading for mercy. “She caused pandemonium in the court hall and other adjoining courts as litigants and lawyers rushed out to find out what was amiss, thinking that something tragic had happened.

“I thought somebody had been sentenced to death for murder or related offence. She was just playing the antics sex workers are used to and nothing more.”
At the end of her cry, she was calmed down by her colleagues, who led her into the waiting prison van and was taken to Afokang Prisons as ordered by the magistrate.
