This is true, but only partly. Undoubtedly, the main attraction of Las Vegas is its numerous casinos. They are located in every hotel, working around the clock, and have a lot of visitors, despite the changeability of fortunes.

But not just a passion for games of chance attracts millions tourists to Las Vegas. Many travellers are interested in visiting beautiful and exciting places in the city and around it. For sure you can find many fun things to do in Las Vegas and get a lot of fun even without opening your wallet. This city is worth a visit.

But tourists come here not only to play in the casino, but also to enjoy the luxury hotels and the bright lights illuminating the vibrant nightlife. There are a lot of huge shopping centres, gorgeous hotels, amusement parks and many other noteworthy places here.

One of the things to do in Las Vegas for free is visiting Bellagio Fountains, which is located near the eponymous hotel. The fountain was opened in 1998. It is a largest outstanding fountain show in the world, with laser lighting, accompanied by classical and popular music.

Delightful fireworks of flowing water fascinates the viewer. 75-metre jets of water explode every six minutes with a new pattern that never repeats throughout the day. This masterpiece was created by the world-renowned design firm WET Design.

The Stratosphere Tower, at a height of 350 metres, is the highest observation tower in the United States. But special attention must be given to the attraction “Stratosphere Thrills”, the most extreme rides in Las Vegas, which are located on the top of the tower. Attention: Before visiting these attractions, it’s best to consult a doctor. Judge for yourself: you will ride The Big Shot, which is located at an altitude of 329 metres. Once you sit in a chair, you and 15 other similarly desperate guys will be “shot” into the sky for 50 metres at a speed of 90 km per hour. After that you will fall down at the same speed.

And you will repeat this several times.

The next ride is called X-Scream and occurs at a height of 264 m (108th floor). There are no sudden jerks, but it’s no less scary. Gently swaying over an abyss, you will feel the illusion of falling into it. Is it enough for you? No? Well, Insanity, the next ride, is a carousel for lovers of the extreme. It rotates at a speed of 80 kilometres per hour and at an angle of 70°. Anyone who dares to open their eyes, can see land, 280 metres below.

The 165 m tall replica of the Eiffel Tower is located at Paris Las Vegas Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s one of the most romantic things to do in Las Vegas Nevada, certainly one of the best places where you can enjoy a panoramic view. The Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas looks the same as in Paris, but is about half the height.

At the bottom of the tower there is a restaurant and gift shop. The transparent elevator lifts visitors to the top of tower, providing amazing views of the city while still ascending. Every day after sunset at 19:00, visitors can watch the amazing and mysterious show: the volcano wakes up, emitting sounds characteristic of an eruption, and then the fire appears out of the crater and rises to a height of about 60 metres.

Tourists say that the volcano looks really impressive and natural. In addition to the “revived” volcano, the hotel Mirage has a swimming pool with dolphins, an aquarium with a variety of tropical fish, as well as the garden, which is inhabited by leopards, panthers, white tigers and lions.

Among Las Vegas fun things to do the popular Fremont Street gradually became one of the main locations of major Hollywood movies. But as soon as night comes to the city, a modest Fremont Street turns into an amazing Fremont Street Experience.

Here you can see a million lights and hear a thousand decibels of music, echoes of which sweep across the city. Unique video shows appears on a giant screen, which has the form of an arched dome overlying the street. You can find Fremont Street in the old Las Vegas, namely in the downtown area.

There are thousands of flowers, trees and all sorts of plants here. A unique attraction is the fact that talented horticulturists seasonally change the design to keep even return visitors impressed. Within seven days, 120 employees work 24 hours a day on the conversion of the 13,573-square-foot conservatory from one design to another.

You will find more than 10,000 potted flowers and plants which were brought from Southern California. Watering of flowers happens mainly manually. Special spotlights illuminate every type of flower, highlighting its features. In the gardens various musical performances take place every day.

An interesting fact is that the museum shows videos of records, many of which were made in “Sin City”. You will spend hours exploring interactive displays on new records set in sport, science, entertainment, and architecture.

9. Grand Canyon

There are many exciting things to do near Las Vegas. A few hours away from the city is the second most popular national park in America – The Grand Canyon. The Canyon, with a length of 365 km and width of 16 km has multi-coloured rocks, which descend down a mile (1.6 km). At the bottom of the canyon is the Colorado River.

You can take the canyon walking tour, horseback riding and go rafting on the river. The Grand Canyon is visited by about 5 million people each year. If it’s possible, take a tour by helicopter or plane and inspect the canyon with a bird’s-eye view.

You can be sure you will be struck by the grandeur and vastness of nature. And this is one of those places that should be on your list of mandatory attendance. Grand Canyon Village is a visitor centre that offers lectures and videos that will help you learn more about this miracle of the world. From there you can start your way to the bottom of the canyon. But don’t forget that you don’t descend vertically and the journey is about 16 km down!

10. Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam is located much closer, about 30 minutes’ drive from the city centre by car or bus. This is one of the wonders of engineering of the twentieth century. You can just walk around the dam, in the middle of which there is the border between Nebraska and Arizona.

There the time zones change, on one side of the dam it’s one hour later than the other. And you can go down for a tour and see the existing hydroelectric power plant inside. Also near the dam, you can take a guided tour by helicopter, with a stunning view of the structure itself, and the surrounding desert landscape.
