19 Freakishly Smart Celebs

JAMES FRANCO

James Franco’s IQ is estimated to be greater than 130. To many the star of ‘Freaks and Geeks’ & ‘Pineapple Express’ may not seem like one of the brightest in Hollywood, but James spends more time in the classroom than on set.
James Franco continuously adds to his academic studies, having graduated from UCLA, Columbia, New York University and Yale. Not only is Mr. Franco a dedicated student, but he has begun giving back to younger generations, teaching English & Film at several of these institutes.


EMMA WATSON

The youngest celeb on our list, Ms. Watson graduated from Brown University, studying for 5 years at the Ivy League School. With a reporting IQ of 138, Emma Watson is one of the smartest young actors in Hollywood.
The Harry Potter star doesn't limit her intellectual pursuits to the classroom, she's active in global Women's Rights issue as working recently as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Women.

DAVID DUCHOVNY

David hasn't attended university since he began acting 25+ years ago, but at that point he had already received Degrees from 2 Ivy League University.
David has earned his Master's in English Literature from Yale and a B.A. from Princeton, he was well on his way to a Ph.D. when he finally booked a gig and moved to Hollywood. Despite not finishing his PhD, David Duchovny has a reported IQ of 147.

CONAN O'BRIEN

Conan is one of the few Harvard graduate to make the leap into Late Night Television, To date he's the only late night host from the Ivy League. Conan graduated magna cum laude with his history & liturature degree and was selected as valedictorian. The TBS stars boasts an IQ of 160.

STEVE MARTIN

Steve Martin is a proud member of Mensa and wrote a detailed piece for The New Yorker on his efforts to join the brainiacs society.
It is reported that his IQ is 142, and early in his career he strongly debated becoming a professor instead of our favorite amigo.

JAMES WOODS

With a reported IQ of 184, James Woods could be the smartest actor in Hollywood. Attending UCLA & MIT, James was offered a scholarship to John Hopkins University, if he had chosen a medical career instead.
He's also well noted for his perfect 800 SAT score in verbal and 779 on the math SATs.


NATALIE PORTMAN

Natalie Portman became the first Harvard alumni to win an Academy Award for Lead Acting. She has been published twice in scientific journals, neither of those about her now forgotten role in Star Wars.
To top it off she graduated Harvard with a 4.0 and is also fluent in 6 languages. Natalie's IQ has been reported at 140.

MAYIM BIALIK

After Blossom, Mayim took a break from acting for a little schooling, it turns out that she's pretty good at that too, attaining a Ph.D. in neuroscience. She graduated from UCLA, and was also accepted to Harvard & Yale, but prefered staying closer to home.
Since Mayim's return to tv in The Big Bang Theory, she finds it easy acting as a genius, with her reported genius IQ between 153-160.


LISA KUDROW

The ‘Friends’ star, Lisa Kudrow has quite a different life before joining Hollywood, she worked in medical research for nearly 10 years. Once she quit and began acting, Lisa was typically cast as a stereotypical blond, but anyone close knowns that there’s nothing stereotypical about her.
Long before acting Lisa graduated from Vassar College, with a degree in biology. Her reported IQ is 160!
 

ROWAN ATKINSON


Mr. Bean is not only very intelligent, but also a political advocate, involved in free speech and gay rights.
Rowan graduated from Oxford University with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering long before he began his career in comedy. Rowan has a reported IQ of 178.
 

SHARON STONE


Sharon accepted a scholarship at the young age of 15 to Edinboro University. In the 90s Sharon was known for being a sex symbol and was one of the largest stars in Hollywood with classic roles in Casino, Basic Instinct & Total Recall. Don't let that fool you she's incredibly intelligent, with a reported IQ of 154, she can outwit many of her co-stars.

TOMMY LEE JONES


Harvard seems to send a lot of graduates to Hollywood, Mr. Jones graduated way back in 1969. Tommy has been known as one of the most intelligent actors and has an IQ of 135.
Tommy Lee enjoyed Harvard quite a bit back in the day, playing offensive tackle for the Harvard Crimson team. He also lived across the hall from another notable Harvard alumni, former Vice President and current environmental advocate Al Gore.

JODIE FOSTER


When Jodie was a child actress she never took a break from her studies. She taught herself to read by the time she was 3, and took a break from her acting career to attend Yale.
With a reported IQ of 132, Jodie Foster is known for being one of the most intellectual Academy Award winners.

ELISABETH SHUE


Another Harvard grad on the list, the Adventures in Babysitting star took a 15 break from her studies as her acting career grew. She finally returned to Harvard, graduating in 2000.

BEN STEIN


Ben is an accomplished economics professor and has authored more than 30 books. Not to mention he was a former speech writer for 2 sitting Presidents, Nixon & Ford.
Ben graduated from both Columbia University with honors & Yale Law, a challenge for anyone but easier with his 150 IQ.


NICOLE KIDMAN


Attending college back in her home Australia, Nicole is an alumni of Victorian College in Melbourne.
She inherited great genes that I'm sure assisted her in achieving a 132 IQ, her father is a biochemist and clinical psychologist and mother is a nursing professor.



 

KEN JEONG


Ken Juong first attended Duke University, where he received his undergrad degree. He wasn't done learning from then, moving on to achieve his medical degree from the University of North Carolina in 1995, and was a medical doctor until his breakout roles in The Hangover & Community.
 

ASHTON KUTCHER


Ashton was accepted to both MIT and Purdue for engineering before a high school prank cost him his scholarship. Ashton moved on quickly with his Hollywood career with his breakout roles in ‘That 70s Show’ & ‘Dude Where’s My Car’ typically cast as the unintelligent type. But Ashton plays a very different role in real life with a reported IQ of 160.
Ashton has also proven to be very intelligent in the high tech business world, being an early investor in Spotify, Airbnb and Foursquare.

AISHA TYLER


Before focusing her career on comedy and long before Aisha became most well-known for voicing Lana Kane in Archer, she graduated Dartmouth College. Aisha is one of the few Hollywood elite with a degree from an Ivy School, receiving her degree in Political Science and minored in Environmental Policy.
Not only is Aisha book smart, but she’s also an educated linguist, she’s fluent in French, Russian & Swahili. Aisha’s IQ is reported to be 156.
